Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
Due to a large increase in student enrollment and necessary budget cuts, PS11 will no longer be able to accommodate families who wish to drop off their children before the beginning of the school day. The drop-off procedure will be as follows:

Morning Arrival
The school day begins at 8:50am. All students will be permitted to go upstairs beginning at 8:45 am so that they arrive in the classroom by 8:50am. Students who arrive after 8:50am will be considered late and must receive a late pass (see below).

Students who eat school breakfast (all grades) will be allowed to enter the cafeteria at 8:30am. Only Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten parents and guardians will be permitted to accompany their children into the cafeteria for breakfast. All other students will be admitted to the building at 8:45am.

Due to the large number of kindergarten students, only PreK and Kindergarten families will be allowed in the cafeteria. For the first few weeks of school, PreK, Kindergarten and First grade families may escort their children to the classrooms. After our first Family Friday, only Pre K and Kindergarten families will be permitted in the building at arrival. Students who are mandated for our Morning Program may enter the building at 7:45am on Morning Program days.

Students who DO NOT eat school breakfast will enter the building at follows:

Pre-K and Kindergarten Students will enter through the main entrance (eastern set of doors) on 21st Street at 8:30am and go to their assigned tables in the cafeteria. Teachers will meet students and escort them upstairs starting at 8:45am so they will arrive in their classroom at 8:50am.

First, Second, Third, Fourth and Fifth Grade Students will enter through the playground and line up in class assigned spots in the yard starting at 8:30am. For the first several days of school, classroom teachers will meet students in the yard. Beginning in early September, students will line up by class and will be sent up to their classrooms at 8:45am.

Students who arrive late for school (AFTER 8:50am) will enter through the main entrance. They must wait in line in the cafeteria to obtain a late pass. Late students will then use staircase A/B and go directly to their classroom independently. Parents may not escort late students to classrooms.

Dismissal
Kindergarten students will be dismissed at 3:10pm to a parent or guardian through the western gates of the playground. From Thursday, September 8th through Monday, September 13th, parents will pick up their kindergarten children from the classroom at dismissal.

First Grade students will be dismissed at 3:10pm to a parent or guardian at the east entrance doors in front of the school on 21st Street.

Second Grade students will be dismissed at 3:10pm
to a parent or guardian at the west entrance doors in front of the school on 21st Street.

Third, Fourth and Fifth Grade students will be dismissed at 3:10pm

MORNING PROGRAM
Some students will be selected to join our Early Morning Intervention Program. This program runs Wednesday and Thursday, 8:00–8:50am. In this program, students will receive additional support in a small group setting. Please be sure to arrive before 8:00am. It is very important that your child arrives on time for this program. No students will be admitted into their group after 8:05am. If your child is selected, attendance is mandatory.

BUSES
Children that travel via yellow school bus will be escorted to the cafeteria upon arrival and escorted to the bus at dismissal by a school aide.

AFTERSCHOOL
Students registered for the PS11 Programs AfterSchool, will be escorted by their classroom teacher to the program located in the cafeteria at 3:10pm

PARENTS LATE FOR DISMISSAL
Parents or guardians who arrive late for dismissal will find their child in the second floor main office. After 3:15pm there will not be staff members available to supervise children. If you are not able to pick up your child and the office is unable to contact you, your child will be taken to the 10th New York City Police Precinct.

These policies are in place to ensure the safety of all of our students. To be certain that our students are safe, no adults will be allowed above the first floor at any time unless they have signed in with the safety officer or a staff member is accompanying them. This policy is in effect at all times, including arrival and dismissal.
