This week, 4th grade Papièr-mâche students have created their own unique hybrid animal species. These species are a combination of creatures who dwell in completely different environments. Here they come together to create a super species of mammal/reptile or bird/fish creatures. Students drafted their designs on paper, and then created miniature clay prototypes. Now they are working on building the base of their forms using newspaper and foil and wrapping them in the papièr-mâche paste covered newspaper strips. Over the next couple weeks the students will continue to wrap their pieces and connect them to create their animal sculptures. Finally they will paint and add details to the sculpture and their environmental bases.
