Our 5th grade architecture students have been busy learning how architecture is the science and art of designing buildings. They discussed the design process and learned about some of the prominent architecture figures throughout modern history such as Frank Gehry.
The students created design vision boards as inspiration, considering the function of their buildings, the atmosphere they want to create, and the city where they envision their structure being erected. Next they designed blueprint scaled drawings of their buildings, while learning about the architectural process, considering materials needed, permits required, and environmental factors. Now they have begun the build and construct process to create mini models of their designs. This class is led by parents Joohee, Jennifer, Patty, and Christine.
