PS11 Kids Care Club
The PS11 Kids Care Club is our community service club at PS 11. The rotating members organize a variety of community service opportunities for the entire school community to get involved in. Our mission is to show that any person, at any age, can make a difference in the lives of others.
During the 2010-2011 school year, the Kids Care Club organized the following events;
Winter City Harvest Canned Food Drive: This annual pre-December break tradition continued this year for the 4th year in a row! For more information about City Harvest, visit: www.cityharvest.org.
Hats, Gloves, and Scarves Collection: Students collected NEW hats, scarves, and gloves for the children attending the annual Coalition for the Homeless Holiday Party. Over 200 children received gifts because of PS 11's generous efforts.
Book Drive for Camp Homeward Bound: We collected over 1,006 books for Camp Homeward Bound, a residential sleepaway camp for homeless children and the LIFE Shelter.
Spring City Harvest Canned Food Drive: We ran another food drive in the spring in anticipation for a rough summer for thousands of NYC's children. City Harvest recognized PS 11 for donating more food than any other school in Manhattan last year, and Jordana Beatty, star of the upcoming movie, Judy Moody and the NOT Bummer Summer, helped students pack up the canned food after the drive!
