Chess Queens! : PS11 Girls Shine at the New York Girls Championship

It was the perfect warm up for the All Girls Nationals in Chicago, as the PS11 ( K-6, U 900) team represented by Seneca, Sabella and Ali placed 3rd the New York State Championship. Individual trophy winners were Sabella (8th place in the U900) and Indira (7th place in the K-3 Championship section). Wishing our amazing girls a great showing at the Nationals this weekend!

Chessmates This Weekend

Ash won a trophy for 8th place under 700 at the PS 116 tournament.

Saratoga Success: Chessmates At the New York State Tournament

The PS11 chess team fielded 19 players across different sections, for many of whom it was their first State Championship. While we lacked team trophies, we more than made up for it in team spirit.  In individual honors, Avaan placed third in the Primary Championship section and Meera was second in the U800 section. The Chessmates are going strong, watch out Nationals!

Chess Chess and More Chess!

There was a lot of chess in store for PS11 this weekend. We hosted the all girls CIS tournament this weekend and had an incredible turnout with over 400 girls and the event was highlighted on CBS news!

On Sunday Anay placed 8th in the U700 and Elliott placed 7th in the U1000 section at Lower Lab. Indira had a perfect score and placed 2nd in the Classic section at Nest and Avaan placed fifth in the Championship section.

This weekend 15 of the Chessmates head to Saratoga for the New York State Championships.
